simple fun....................

The little ones came for a sleepover last weekend. On Saturday afternoon we had lots of fun in the garden and the paddling pool was very popular. In the evening we had our first BBQ of the summer which was a big success.
On Sunday morning I planned a crafty indoors activity, originally I had been thinking about decopatch but the papers are quite expensive at almost £4 for a packet of 3 sheets and the children aren't very discerning when it comes to pattern and colour choices. Bright and bold is usually a winning formula so I decided on coloured tissue paper that was much cheaper. I chose a selection of recycled jam jars and tin cans for the children to cover, they were really excited and couldn't wait to start gluing. The table was covered with an easy to wipe over plastic cloth. In the centre was a tray of different coloured tissue paper pieces, an assortment of brushes, small saucers of PVA glue, the chosen containers and away we went.

Finn is the most methodical when it comes to craft and he was the first to finish, so whilst his jam jar dried he did some drawing. Daisy doesn't concentrate for long so even though her jam jar was only small she was soon lured away by the need to draw with Finn, although she did come back to finish her jar.

When Finns jar had dried he wanted to add his name so we did that with some washi tape, which worked really well. We spent a good few hours drawing, gluing, chatting and having fun.

Definitely another activity to add to my list for the school summer holidays which start next week.
