freebies.........................

What do you do with the freebies you get in craft magazines - I have good intentions and always think "oh yes, I must make that" but confess I rarely do. As I have been resting my hook I have been busy with a few other behind the scene jobs and projects - one has been sorting out my sewing box as this is where I stuff or should I say lovingly save my freebies.

I think I have my work cut out to complete them all......................

beautiful freebie buttons......................
I have challenged myself to make at least one of the kits up a week and then share the finished results - good or bad with you. If you have some of these goodies lurking around why don't you join in with me................

My sewing box is looking very tidy and the lid can now close ( I forgot to do a before shot) so I am all set to start my crafting campaign .......................

Hope you have a good weekend. the sun is shining over my house today ..............................will I get my glass of wine in the garden - think so!

talk soon x

    1. Hi Amanda
My sewing box was a Christmas present a few years ago and it's made by Carh Kidston - I wish I was clever enough to make it myself but I do love it. The freebies all came with magazines like Mollie Makes so I didn't win them, like you I have never won any magazine prizes. i will start making one next week. Hope you have a fun weekend.

  2. What a great idea! I have stack loads of freebies (some dating back years) I probably don't have enough years left in me to make them all! I am going to try and do the same as you. Enjoy the sunshine. Sue x

  3. Very cute sewing box and very tidy!! I'm not that great on buying magazines, largely because I never get around to making the things from it, so I now but them in the odd occasion. Sounds like a great idea. Enjoy this glorious wearher xo

  4. H Sue I just love the sewing box. I don't buy magazines as my passion is yarn ... Often far too much of it. But I will look forward to seeing your makes. Hope the shoulder is lubricated by raising the glass of vino xx

  7. Your sewing box is very unique and pretty.. I have a couple of those wee kits too.. I was thinking of giving one of the crocheting one (brooch) to my grand daughter as a learning kit to teach her crochet... what do you think... Is 7 years old to young?? Enjoy your sunshine. Hugs Judy

    1. Hi Judy
I'm not sure it really depends on the child I tried to teach my grandson to knit at a similar age and he couldn't really grasp it but worth a try. Hope you join in and make the others up yourself x

  8. My friend gave me flower crochet coasters you have photographed there. I went to make it but there was not a pattern in it! Maybe she had taken it out and forgot to put it back so I used the yarn to make a flower instead. I always feel like I used to with my post office set as a child - If I use them then they are gone - rather than getting the enjoyment out of them! I also have a luggage tag I can share with you too because I eventually got over the 'saving it' mentality. Jo x

    1. Hi Jo
I took the coaster one on a train journey and when I came to make it there was no pattern, later I realised it was in the magazine but it was frustrating at the time as the magazine was at home - as you can see I didn't pick it up again. Hope you join in if I start a link up - it will be like show and tell at school x

  9. Great idea to do one freebie project a week! I must confess I found myself thinking I must get the wrong kind of craft magazines (mostly knitting and spinning), as I have never got a freebie with any of them.

  11. I've also been distracted by your beautiful - and tidy - sewing box! :) I don't buy crafting magazines very often these days but I'm pretty sure there are some freebies lurking around here somewhere, hope you manage to keep to your plan, sounds like a good idea. Enjoy your wine in the garden :) xxx

  13. I wish more American magazines did that. I am always tempted to buy an issue of Mollie Makes when I see one in a crafting store but the mark-up here is ridiculous. I think it ends up being a $12 magazine, which is too rich. I hope you're having a nice weekend. :)

  14. Gosh that is a mark up - wish you lived closer as you could have some of mine x

  19. Hi Sue, I too have the freebie collection. Same as you, probably would never use them, but dont want to throw away either.
I think digging them out and having a go of them will be fun, better than being stuffed in my yarn box.
Hopefully be able to post you my made up freebies by the end of the week :)
