Slow weekend............

After a busy week I have tried to have a relaxing weekend, I did some shopping with Laura yesterday and then chilled on the sofa and caught up with the cricket in the afternoon - England will have to bat well to catch up with Australia in this match.

I have finished my hexagon blanket, thank you for your helpful comments. I decided after much thought to crochet a simple shell like edging that I sort of made up as I went a long. I like how it looks and it feels finished now. I am giving it to Zach and Noah although I will have to make another one soon, as I'm sure they will want one each. When they sit on the sofa to watch TV or listen to a story they usually go and get one of my blankets to snuggle under, and they want one to take home.

Now that my blanket is finished I am resting my hook and have picked up my knitting needles, my friend Barbara has commissioned another baby hat. I am knitting my very favourite "Erika Knight" pull on baby bonnet, it's on the front cover of Nursery Knits here. I have knitted more than a dozen of these little hats it's such a beautiful pattern with it's lacy edging and simple garter stitch. The yarn I have chosen is a 100% Egyptian cotton 4 ply and it's knitted on 2.75mm needles, very fine and grows so very slowly. It feels quite strange to knit something so small and light when over the last few weeks I have had a big blanket covering my knees as I have been crocheting round and round.

Just measured it again and only 2 cms to go and then I can start shaping......................
Hope you have a good Sunday - it's raining here at the moment, hopefully it will brighten later.

Talk soon x

  3. I really LIKE that blanket. I also love that the grandchildren want to take them home with them, nothing says love like a warm blanket. Regarding the cricket.....lol.....I was born in England, raised in Australia.....have to admit I do follow the Aussies in the cricket, even when we are loosing it in all departments......do not condone off field actions I add hastily.
So may the best team win, and England have had the upper hand with their bowling especially...cannot wait until we meet again at Christmas...always special that test.
I am going off to restart my granny square blanket....:-)

  5. The blanket is absolutely amazing, the edging you used works really well.

I have to confess that I just don't "get" cricket at all, I am more a football and motor racing follower.

Cant wait for the start of the premier league!!
