Saturday sleepover.............

Four little ones slept over last night which was fun. We had planned a film night with popcorn and goodies - it started well we all snuggled on the sofa with our pots of treats. Gradually as pots emptied so did the number of people watching the film when it was only me and Mr R we felt we should go and see what was more fun!

On investigation my iPad and phone were causing major distractions, I had downloaded a few child friendly games, the jigsaws and cut the rope game were proving to be very popular, then a football tournament was started -  so the film never got finished.

After an epic long bed time story 4 children became 1 - Finn, Zachy and Daisy were all tucked up, Alex at 10 thought he should be classed as an adult so he was allowed to stay up.

Mr R and Alex managed to find a football programme on the TV to keep them happy and I decided to do a bit of crochet - all quiet and civilised.

Morning started early as Daisy and Zachy woke not much after 6am, Mr R did the early morning start and I was allowed to stay in bed a little longer but did have company as Finn joined me for a snuggle and chat.

After breakfast I had promised we would make Easter Baskets in preparation for our Easter egg hunt. We used plastic plant pots for the baskets and made handles out of cardboard which were secured with double sided tape.

Then the fun started with glitter, tissue paper, stars, sequins, you name it we glued it. Attention span varied, Daisy didn't last long, Zachy did well and also made one for Noah. Finn had the most fun and ended up all alone at the table, totally focused on his basket and then he made one for his cousin Jake. Alex decorated a basket but did feel he was a bit old for cutting and gluing!

My house was very messy but a riot of colour from our craft activities and from jam jars and jugs filled with tulips and daffodils - spring was definitely in the air.

It's all quiet now children have been collected and I am still thinking Easter so I am about to crochet some Easter eggs, I have been inspired by Kate's blog greedy for colour  - so watch this space...........

jam jar's are multiplying..........

My jam jar's are multiplying.......I  seem to have been on a bit of a roll and every jar I covered inspired me to try a different design ( I love the granny square jar) but less is definitely more .........I have had such fun but I do need to stop now!

I have stopped..............promise and I've now got the lovely job of deciding what to store in my beautiful jars.

my creative space...............playing with jam jars

I have done some serious knitting over the last week, I made a scarf and then I had a go at making a pouf/ floor cushion with massive chunky needles and yarn. It was hard work and cumbersome, my knitting got really heavy. Once my knitting was completed it was with pure delight that I reached for my favourite 3.5mm hook, my ice cream coloured Amalfi cotton and just had fun. I didn't really have a plan in mind but I quite fancied doing something pretty with jam jars, as lots of lovely decorated jars seem to be everywhere at the moment.

Over the Mother's Day weekend Marks and Spencer were selling small bunches of flowers in jam jars, they were decorated with ribbons and buttons and looked very pretty, I had also seen crochet jam jar covers on quite a few crafty blogs, Ladybird Diaries had posted a lovely one on her blog.

So after a bit of playing around with my yarn I decided that for my link up with Kirsty on "my creative space" I would make some lovely striped jam jar cosies, I think I might embellish them with some of my favourite tiny crochet hearts - what do you think?

I am in a spring cleaning and organising sort of mood, so I think these jars will come in very useful - and they are so lovely to look at.

Hope you get time to pop over to visit Kirsty.

Christmas jam jars ............ my creative space

I knitted lots of jam jar cosies for table decorations at Kate's wedding and thought something similar might be nice for Christmas. I decided to crochet the cosies in traditional red and green Christmas colours.

The jars will have little tea lights inside so should provide some subtle lighting for cosy Christmasy evenings.

I was also inspired to crochet little stars after visiting Lucy at Attic24 I think they will look nice around the necks of the jars- what do you think. If I crochet enough of them I am going to make them into a mini garland for the Christmas tree.

a perfect sunny Sunday .........

It's been a lovely sunny day today and I decided to have a leisurely day before the onslaught of a very busy week ahead.

The day started with a trip to a local charity car boot sale, where I bought some lovely china teacups to add to my collection, some vintage dessert bowls and a little china serving dish. Followed by a very quick supermarket shop and then back home.

The house has been so quiet, no visitors, my partner had gone to play football which left me with some lovely me time hours. I played my favourite Jack Johnson album and did some pottering inside and outside the house. I love sitting in the sunshine but it also makes me want to do jobs in the house, I tried hard to resist on the job front but did end up doing some sorting - so not such a leisurely day but still enjoyable.

I have been checking off my to do list for the wedding and things are going well - also made a list of jobs for the week as I go away for the weekend and then on Monday it's time to go on holiday - I can't wait.

designer jam jars .................

I have got distracted from my patchwork and have started knitting jam jar covers!
As I'm staying with Kate it's a great opportunity for us to catch up with wedding planning. Yes, another wedding - Kate gets married in October and after seeing a lovely cosy jar cover on Pinterest she has tasked me to come up with a design. The tables are to be decorated with jam jars and bottles full of seasonal flowers.

I started with a cable design
they have multiplied

A quick collage hope you like them
