To tone in with my new blanket I have started a granny square cushion and I am using Lucy's join as you go method. One side of the cushion is made up of light grey squares joined with a darker grey yarn and the other side is dark grey squares joined with the lighter grey yarn. I haven't decided how I'm going to join the cushion edges together yet but hopefully I will have a plan before I finish - although all ideas will be much appreciated.
I have been using grey yarn that I've had for quite a while; you might recognise it from a blanket I started last year. The blanket was made up of small granny squares in four different colours, joined as you go with a contrasting yarn. I sort of got a bit fed up with this blanket, it has been sitting in a basket waiting for my attention for quite a while. After much thought I decided to rip it back and use the grey granny squares for my cushion. It was hard to undo all my lovely join along crochet but I don't think I would have finished the blanket and I do like the look of my new cushion.
Although I now have a pile of pink and green granny squares to find a use for - I'm sure I will think of something.
I am joining in with :-
Hope you have time to pop over to the crochet and yarn alongs to see all the lovely projects on the go.

Your blanket turned out lovely. I am slowly warming up to gray myself. Seems to tone down all the bright in your face colors I always lean toward. Have a wonderful day.

DeleteHello Sue, Wow what can I say but your crochet makes are beautiful, gorgeous and stunning, I just love your grey blanket it's sits perfect on the back of your armchair and will look beautiful with pink. Ripping back is not fun but somtimes is has to be done, and your new cushion is worth all your efforts.

DeleteHi Sue, I really like your idea of reversing the colour scheme on the other side of your cushion. The finished grey blanket is lovely. I hope you find a use for your left-over pink and green granny squares. Enjoy the rest of the week.

DeleteGenius! Love the repurposing of the unloved project. And I do like the subtle colour mixed with the brights, light and shade, it all works. So hot here cannot think about yarn....42 C ......melt.

ReplyDeleteThank you Tinie x
DeleteI love the grey hues of the blanket and the cushion - you're right, they help offset the others colours beautifully! The leftover squares could be used for an iPad or laptop cover, or a row to edge a bag or pillowcase...or just tuck them away for a future project! Thanks as always for linking up, Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie thank you for your lovely ideas x
DeleteI Love your work ... I am a little bit like that too, I start something and sometimes it just isnt working for me. I think making the cushion is a great idea and it looks wonderful with your grey blanket. The left over green and pink squares look all ready for an Easter project, great colours. Look forward to seeing what you create out of them. LOVE all your ideas and your work ... thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you an Easter project is a great idea x
DeleteYour grey blanket and cushion are looking lovely. It's difficult to undo a started project isn't it but if you knew you weren't going to finish it then it's the best thing to do.

Thank you they have worked out well x
DeleteSuper that your grey blanket is ready! I like this knee blanket size, it's perfect for TV evenings in my armchair ;-). Your cushion looks already great! I would make 1 round of simple granny stitches around each side. Dark for the dark framed grannies and light for the light framed grannies (or maybe just the other way round?). Then crochet together with a small and not to opulent border, maybe little shells. The pink and green squares are so beautiful! I love this color combination. I think I would edge them with off-white and make another cushion ;-). Have a nice day!
