Another week has flown by and my tardiness is becoming a habit as I am late again for Ginny's yarn along post. I started knitting beanie hats and scarfletts last week but unfortunately the hats have been a bit problematic. The first one I knitted was a little bit small. I used the correct yarn and needles and my tension was knitting up right but I think the sizing of the pattern was wrong. For the second hat I tried a different pattern and that came out nearly big enough for me but finally after yet more unpicking and resizing it worked out and the hat will now fit a one year old nicely, with just a little bit of growing room. Is it just me or do you find sizing hats tricky? My last hat was a little beret which is a pattern I've used before and this turned out first time.
All the hats have now been labelled, wrapped and given to Barbara (my best customer) who had commissioned the three orders - I just hope they fit nicely and keep the little ones warm and cosy.
This week is school half term and I've been busy with my grandchildren so I'm afraid I don't have a new book to share with you. I'm still enjoying my Jo Nesbo novel but I don't seem to have had much time to settle down and read this week.
I hope if you have time you will pop over to read Ginny's, Chrissies and Tami's posts as I have joined in with all three link's this week.
Thank you again for your amazing comments they make me very happy.
talk soon x

ReplyDeleteHalf term for us next week will be nice to have my daughter at home. Hope you've enjoyed a lovely week x
Lovely lovely things
ReplyDeleteYour patience and perseverance is very admirable! Hats can be so tricky, and nothing is more frustrating than an incorrect pattern! But boy oh boy, you sure did sort out this one - that is one beautiful bundle of wintry wear! Chrissie xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat knitting, love the little flowers on the beret! xx
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhh these are gorgeous!!!! I love the colors!!!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I could knit. Your hats are so cute. There are certain things that just look better knitted than crocheted, and hats are one of them. Super!
ReplyDeleteSue, your knitting is amazing I am so in awe of you. I love the colours and little embellishments.

Loving all that yarny goodness, the colours are just perfect. Well done for sorting out the hats, it's always most annoying when a pattern turns out to be incorrect. Glad to see all's well that ends well.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend
Xx
It must be lovely to have your grandchidlren around ... wish my Mam was here with us during half term. I LOVE your hats and scarfs, the scarfs look great, I love the button on them. Hope you dont mind if I use this idea for a few Christmas Presents in my family. I have 17 Childrens Presents to come up with all for Neices and Nephews under the age of 13 ... these look perfect . I would love to have ago at the hats too, but like you said, mine always turn out the wrong size and I am not that patient with unpicking and starting again.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sue, those are adorable. The colors are lovely, and your knitting looks perfect. I haven't knitted anything in a long time, as I mostly crochet, but I will have to get back into knitting. Isn't it nice to get things all finished and ready to present to the wearer. Lovely! xxoo JO
ReplyDeleteWow you've been busy the little beret with the flowers is so sweet, all those snuggly knits. I hope you've been enjoying half term.

Fabulous work! I just adore the striped hats.
ReplyDeletebravo!
ReplyDeleteAll of your hats look really good, I love all the different yarns you have used. Yes I find sizing hats quite troublesome which is why I tend to stay away from them!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it frustrating when the sizing doesn't work out. I hate taking things apart to correct them ... so tedius! Your hats do look adorable, though, and that beret is so very cute with the button flowers! Enjoy your weekend ;) Wendy
