I've bought a small bistro table and chair set to have as an extra seating area when I am running workshops and afternoon teas. I wanted to pretty the table top up a little so using some lovely Belle & Boo fabric that Kate bought me earlier in the year I made a cloth. The table was packaged in cardboard and it had a cardboard circle on the top to protect the glass, this made a perfect template. I decided to draw around the template straight onto the fabric and then I cut the circle out with pinking sheers.
I then did a blanket stitch all around the table cloth and crocheted an edging with a 1dc, 1htr, 2tr, 1hr,1dc in each space.
I am pleased how my little corner looks but if I make another table cloth I will hem the edges first as I think the pinked edge may fray after a few washes.
Sorry it has been a while since I stopped by but life is busy and my energy levels are low. Hope you are all enjoying April and our little bursts of sunshine and warm weather although today is rainy and grey.
talk to you soon I promise x
It's lovely Sue, so far I've only seen the crochet edging on pillow cases but it looks great on the tablecloth. Pretty fabrics. Shame the weather has turned, hopefully it will come back! Have a lovely week.

Thank you Jane, I was pleased. I started with a tea towel, then moved onto the tablecloth in fact I am eying anything with an edge in a totally different way - Mr R is worried that one day his trouser legs might have a pretty border added .......x
DeleteYour table is lovely. It looks perfect for it's job.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week. x

That is just so very pretty, you'd created a lovely corner there. I've always fancied making some fabric pillow cases with a crochet edging, so it's good to see it's fairly straightforward to do. x
ReplyDeleteSo attractive, love the contrast of the crochet with the fabric.

ReplyDeleteAren't you just so clever!? I love that little cloth - I love how it fits the table top exactly, rather than hanging down - it showcases the lovely crocheted edge perfectly. And what pretty fabrics! You know I'm a big Belle & Boo fan, and that fabric combination is just lovely. This is another great way for you to show your students what lovely things can be achieved with crochet! Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteSue, you did a great job, I love it. Hope you get some time to relax.
