52 weeks of happy 45/52

It's that time of the week again and I have another 4 happies to share with you.......................

1. Alex all dressed up for his Tudor themed school trip to Bramhall Hall - he looks so grown up.

2. My first pair of knitted mittens - I had such fun making them.

3. A beautiful bunch of Roses - just looking at them makes me happy.

4. The wonder of sparklers - the children just love them

52 weeks of happy - 44/52..............

The year is racing and I'm up to week 44 of my happy posts.This weeks happies are all quite crafty which won't be much of a surprise....................

1. A lovely parcel arrived in the post for me - I will share all the goodies inside with you soon.

2. I've started another Maggie Rabbit it's for my mum for Christmas - I had forgotten how lovely they are.

3. My first bash at making felt - more to come

4. This lovely book has filled with such inspiration - I've found lots of Christmas gift's to knit

I've been a bit washed out for the last few days so it's been lovely just to sit and ponder. I have had the luxury of flicking through lots of my favourite knitting and crochet books, and even found some I had forgotten that I had bought.

This quiet time has inspired me to tackle some new projects but I have ensured that all the projects are small. In fact most will only need one or two balls of yarn which stops me feeling overwhelmed and also means I can start to use up some of my yarn stash.

I've also really enjoyed my hand sewing and have got on quite well with my mums rabbit. I've bought this pattern to knit a little raglan cardigan for the finished rabbit if I get the time.

I've still got lots of things to share with you that have happened over the last few weeks so I promise to catch up with myself and post a bit more frequently.

52 weeks of happy - 39,40,41/52

I am so out of step with this weekly post and since coming back from holiday I seem to have lost my blogging mojo. I couldn't wait to get back home but now I'm back I think I need a holiday  - I feel exhausted. I am trying to be good and have started to use pacing techniques which help my ME but it's very hard to do and life seems to take over.

I was reading an article recently about women in their mid fifties and how family responsibilities can weigh very heavily for this age group. My parents are at that time of life where they need support and from my blog you will already know I have six amazing grandchildren. My grandchildren bring me great joy but my daughters are always worrying that I do too much. So hopefully if I start to have regular rests built into my day I will have the energy I need to spend time with everyone.

Anyway back to my happy post, Jen has finished her year of sharing happy moments but I have still got away to go - my four happy moments are -

1. sleeping in my own bed - is that an age thing!

2. my new wool winder has arrived - can't wait to try it out

3. choosing warm cosy yarn from my stash to start my winter projects

4. cooking with Alex - more to come.................

It's time to join in with Jen again and share my 4 favourite happies with you - this week the theme is all about what comes in and out of my kitchen...................

1. a lovely happy hour wandering around Lakeland and finding lots of things I really needed!

2. such a happy feeling having bowls of foraged hedgerow fruits and plums from my garden

3. the fruits of my labour - jars of lovely jam and lemon curd

4. another happy hour making pretty cakes to give away to friends and family....... 

Another happy productive week with a kitchen full of lovely baking aromas and of course the mess that baking and preserving makes - but all good fun. Although after my marathon mini cupcake bake I didn't wash up until early evening - don't tell anyone......

As I didn't get round to my happy post last week this is a bumper two week edition - my four happy images this week are all related to craft as when I'm not feeling very strong being able to make things really cheers me up.................

1. I love my Russian dolls and of course want to make lots more

2. twig weaving was such good fun and has given me ideas for other weaving projects

3. Kates lovely cushion with such perfect hand stitching reminds me of my lovely trip

4. even when I'm tired I can manage a few more little crochet squares to add to the growing pile.......

I'm enjoying another happy week of summer and as usual I am joining in with the lovely Jen and my 4 happies this week are.........

A surprise parcel arrived in the post this week - a hard copy of  "The Happiness Project (Kate also bought me the Kindle version a few weeks ago) and Gretchen's second book "Happier at Home" plus some amazing little fluorescent pens - so that I can mark all the bits I want to look back on  - courtesy of my very kind daughter Kate, I am a very lucky mum................

Baking with Alex - we had such fun...................

More unexpected flowers  - my sister called in with a beautiful bunch of flowers - all for me............they smell wonderful

Another lovely unexpected gift - a sweet little house and thank you card from Elizabeth (I helped with some of the baking for her little boy's christening) I've had this little gift a couple of weeks but today I found a special little space to display it for all to see - I am very spoilt..................

what a perfect week and lots of lovely acts of kindness from my family and friends.
